Hot as Hell
Client: Praveen Sharma
Category: Identity, Print, Packaging
Brooklyn-based musician Praveen Sharma takes a genre-absorbing, dancefloor-oriented approach to his output as Braille, effortlessly floating through house, techno, melancholic ambient, and UK Bass.
With “Hot as Hell” Braille is exploring new territory by eschewing the usual digital tools and software that have become standard for musical production. All the music on the EP was created using vintage analog equipment.
Challenge
Design packaging, merchandise, and identity evoking the energetic yet ethereal quality of Braille’s “Hot as Hell” EP.
Themes
Machine-made, analog technology, high-energy yet ambient, anxiety.
Logo
The structure of the letterforms evokes a maze in reference to the themes of uncertainty and anxiety explored in “Hot as Hell”. The geometric regularity and proportions of the type reference the machine-made nature of the music, and the antique vintage of those machines. As a whole, the logo is austere and elegant while also evoking the coiled energy of Braille’s music.
